Volunteers for Distribution Week work from 8:15 a.m. until about 2:30 p.m. Monday thru Thursday and 8:15 a.m. until about noon on Friday. It is not necessary to volunteer every day or even for an entire day. Come and join us when you are available. For individuals there are no reservations necessary, just show up. Groups should contact MFB to make a reservation.
During Distribution Week agencies come to Midwest Food Bank to pick up products for their food pantry or soup kitchen. We distribute to 230+ agencies during the week. The process involves the agency selecting the products, the cases of product are moved from pallet to cart and then loaded from the cart into the agency vehicle. While cases may weigh up to 50 pounds, we also need volunteers to push carts or to record what products the agency receives.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Because it is a warehouse environment no open toe shoes, such as sandals or flip-flops, are allowed.
